Advancing Track-Worker Safety Through Tended Geofencing
JSPC Group is working with AMC Training & Consultancy, Tended’s exclusive delivery partner for geofencing in Ireland, to support the wider introduction of this technology across the Irish rail industry.
Our Cork demonstration day brought clients, contractors and industry professionals together to see the system operating in a live rail environment. With machine support from Altcon Engineering, the event demonstrated how geofencing can provide track workers and site leaders with another practical layer of protection.
Tended’s solution uses precise positioning technology to create safe working limits and warn personnel when they approach or cross a defined boundary. Used correctly, this can strengthen situational awareness, support worksite controls and help reduce the risk of workers unintentionally moving outside an agreed safe area.
The technology also offers important planning and coordination benefits. Clearly defined digital boundaries can support deconfliction between work groups, improve understanding of site limits and create a consistent reference for teams working in complex environments.
Technology will never replace competent people, good planning or strong site leadership. Nor should it. Its value lies in supporting those fundamentals and providing another control within a well-designed safe system of work.
For JSPC Group, the partnership reflects our wider approach to rail delivery: combine practical experience with technology that improves visibility, coordination and safety. We understand what happens when boots hit ballast, and we want innovation to solve genuine worksite problems rather than simply create another dashboard.
Following the successful Cork demonstration, JSPC and AMC will continue supporting awareness and adoption of geofencing across Ireland.
